Our primary objective is to develop the whole child – cognitively, intelligently, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually - from birth to six years of age

The Izulu Orphan Projects (IOP) Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme was formed in 2011 to provide education opportunities for vulnerable, poor and disadvantaged rural children.

Since 2011, IOP has supported and trained over 230 crèche facilitators from rural Zululand crèches. Our commitment is long term: Each crèche is monitored; our ECD specialist oversees the crèche mothers; follow up mentoring is provided, and the development of the children and the care of the equipment are both closely monitored.

‘How can I help?’

We believe there is an urgent need for a permanent crèche at Ngqamuzane, and have entered into positive talks with the local tribal authority to begin planning for this structure, which will be used as a model for ECD development in the years to come.  Donations of funds for a 4x4 vehicle, training, teaching equipment, school-room furniture, playground structures such as a jungle gyms and climbing frames, and building supplies are frequently utilized in this programme.

Our Vision

To serve, educate and provide for the desperate and deserted orphans and HIV infected widows with children through individualized, family-centred, community-focused care. We strive for every orphan to have a humane chance in life.
