Izulu Orphan Projects facilitates the R2-Saving scheme where groups of 20 women meet once a week and save R2. This small change has enabled the women to save thousands of rands over the years. Not only do they have access to funds, this programme gives the women of our community a reason to meet together, to learn to trust each other thereby creating strong social capital.
Each group chooses two representatives to meet monthly forming cluster meetings, giving them a combined voice within their communities. These meetings are used to implement the Asset Based Community Development Model (ABCD) for community development.
To achieve this, Izulu Orphan Projects has partnered with Space 4 Impact to create opportunities through a citizen-led approach to identify and ignite the individual potential in each women for community enablement, skills and enterprise development.
